Our Staff
Richard D. Crane, MD – President and Owner of Atlantic Internal Medicine
Dr. Crane joined Atlantic Internal Medicine in 2000. He became the sole owner in 2015. He strongly believes in keeping Atlantic Internal Medicine an independent practice. With no corporate ties or upper management to answer to, he has the freedom to run the practice according to his philosophy -“keep the patient first”. He takes great joy and satisfaction from getting to know his patients and helping them live well.
Janet White, CPPM, CPC – Office Manager and Billing Specialist
Janet joined Atlantic Internal Medicine in 2016. She has over 30 years of experience in coding and medical office management. Janet is an AAPC certified professional coder and also holds a certification in Physician Practice Management by the AAPC. She is available to assist you with any insurance, billing, staffing or patient portal questions.
Dorothy Hewett – Clinical Lead, Medical Assistant
Dorothy brings over 15 years of experience to our practice. She joined Atlantic Internal Medicine in 2008. She is our go to person for all things clinical. She is known for her tenacious work with insurance company authorizations, her painless injections, medical record requests and a multitude of other tasks.
Kris Crane, MSW – Patient Liaison
Kris earned her Masters in Social Work in 2001 from Loyola University and has extensive clinical experience in health care settings as well as health care marketing. She can assist you with your AIM Plus Membership or contact her if you would like to learn more about our practice and the concierge model.
Grace Harrington – Medical Assistant
Grace joined Atlantic Internal Medicine in 2025. Her quiet, bright demeanor welcomes our patients and assists Dr. Crane in assuring our patients are well cared for. She can assist when you have medical needs, refill requests or questions for Dr. Crane. Grace is also pursuing a nursing degree.
Debbie Whelan – Receptionist
Debbie has been in AIM’s receptionist role since 2024. She is a wealth of knowledge and fits right into our practice and its values. Debbie is typically the first smiling face you will see upon entering the office and will be there to greet you at the end of your appointment as well. She handles our patient appointment scheduling, referrals, and prior authorizations for medical tests.
Aimee Mestad – Medical Assistant
Aimee has been a part of the AIM family since 2015. In recent years, Aimee has transitioned to part time in the fall, winter and early spring while the remainder of the time she runs a successful BBQ business. She is a tremendous assest to our office. She is the epitome of excellent customer services and medical knowledge. You feel her genuine care and concern when in the office or on the phone with her.
